About D'Oyleys Farm

Taste matters and we believe high quality meat comes from happy animals who are free to roam and graze pasture outside as nature intended.
D'Oyleys farm has been farmed by the White family for three generations and we have always seen ourselves as stewards of the land, first and foremost.
We are embracing regenerative and sustainable farming practices, by improving the health of the soil, increasing biodiversity and reducing our carbon footprint below net zero.
This approach goes beyond sustainable, aiming to make a positive impact and to hand over the farm and land in a better way to future generations.
We believe in repairing our planet before it is too late. We have teamed up with Wild Farmed allowing our farm to have a higher level of biodiversity and less chemicals being used.

What does regenerative mean?

Regenerative farming at its simplest is: using farming methods that will improve soil structure and its ability to retain and draw down carbon from the atmosphere. Done correctly, it provides rich, resilient fields for grazing animals which then gives the animals a better diet and improved health.
At the heart of our regenerative farming is a few key principles:

  • No till - we do not till our land to plant seed each year
  • Rotational grazing - our animals are moved around our fields in a system of small areas that they graze down evenly before moving on within 1-3 days. This is better for allowing grass and herbs to grow back stronger as they aren’t over grazed, and means our animals always get the tender stems for their meals which are full of vitamins, minerals and importantly protein.
  • Use of cover crops - we never let our fields lie fallow. Throughout the year we have crops growing which protect the soil through dry summers and wet winters.
  • Increasing and encouraging biodiversity - we plant a diversity of seeds in our fields and always take wildlife into consideration. A healthy farm is one with lots of birds and rabbits and insects buzzing about. We have wildflower borders on our fields and plant wild birdseed for winter months. We allow our river meadows to flood in winter and always look at how we can work with the natural state of our land.

Life on the farm
Our farm is home to herds of herb fed sheep, pasture raised Aberdeen Angus x Shorthorn cattle, free-range chickens, Norfolk bronze turkeys and egg-laying hens, alongside a huge amount of wild life.
We run multiple events on the farm throughout the year and we have a Saturday Farm Shop which opens in the Spring around the same time as our wild camping.
